Today is Ascension Day. It is the 40th day after Easter and is an important religious holiday especially celebrated by the Amish and Mennonites in our area.
After I saw everyone off to work, I sat on my back porch and read a devotional and my Bible.
We have a honeysuckle vine growing over the fence near my back porch and the morning air was filled with it's scent.
I opened my Amplified Bible and read Isaiah 60:1
"Arise [ from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you--rise to a new life! ] Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has, risen upon you!"
Thanks Belinda for sharing this verse today!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful way to start your day; Bible, honeysuckle and that verse!
ReplyDeleteOoo, honeysuckle! I haven't smelled them since I was in my early 20's. We had a bunch growing in a hedgerow where I grew up. I liked the taste of them too. You pull out the stamen carefully and get a drop of "honey" when it comes of out the flower through the back, not through the bloom.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Ascension Day and went to get eggs, only to find that they were closed for Ascension Day, as the company is owned and operated by Mennonite people. So, I guess I'll go and get my eggs tomorrow.
